This giant bar is designed to encompass the flavors of winter with a trifecta of celebratory flavors: fresh local plums, beautiful organic Oregon hazelnuts from a small family farm, and the warming spices of anise and long pepper (a kind of mild black pepper I currently happen to be having a thing with). It was so successful that we're bringing it back for a limited time—as long as our supplies of fresh-frozen local plums last.
A layer of plum caramel made with anise and long pepper and local plums carefully frozen this summer provides the base of the bar. The top layer is a creamy handmade hazelnut gianduja (i.e. nutella! Only naturally vegan and of course 100% made from scratch) mixed with a touch of our handmade ganache, into which we fold chopped candied hazelnut praline for extra crunch. The entire sheet is cut into bar shapes and enrobed in rich dark chocolate.
You can slice this bar into a million tiny rich jewel-sparkly slices so you can share with everyone you love, or you can hang out by yourself, watching a great movie and drinking a perfect glass of wine and chomping away. Either way works great. Enjoy!
