June is a big month for gardeners. I'm not much of a gardener, but the miracle of putting a seed in the ground and watching a big beautiful plant grow from it always takes my breath away. I wanted to pay homage to this month of green shoots with special truffles made from special oils made from special seeds. This truffle box feels very Japanese to me: spare, simple, and celebrating the seasons.
Let's meet the truffles:
Roasted Sesame Oil: Deep, rich, roasted organic sesame oil permeates a 66% bittersweet ganache. Garnished with toasted white and black sesame seeds.
Styrian Pumpkin Seed Oil: I'm obsessed with the green, grassy, pungent oil from special Austran pumpkin seeds. It's so verdant and rich, and pairs exceptionally well with a smooth 60% semisweet ganache filling. It's garnished with the same variety of pumpkin seeds the oil is made from, which are candied by us and infused with a hint of cardamom.
Sunflower Oil: A New York State company, Stolor Organics, makes the most glorious organic sunflower oil imaginable. Maresa makes a delicious chocolate cupcake with it, so I stole her idea and made it into a truffle which I think you're going to love. It's the kind of flavor you're not sure you like until you really digest it, then you become obsessed with it and think about it right before you drift off to sleep and wish you had another truffle right then.
Each box contains 8 truffles.
All our products are made fresh with no preservatives. Eat within one to two weeks for optimal flavor. Store in a sealed container at cool room temperature and remember the golden rule: never eat cold chocolate!
