If you've come into the shop recently, you've probably seen my sweetheart, Jacob, working at the counter. When he's not touring around the world as a sound engineer for indie rock bands, he's usually eating our chocolate scraps and ringing people up. On a recent trip to Germany he enjoyed some hazelnut-infused dark chocolate, and came back with a hilarius new vocab word we can't get out of our heads: haselnüsse! (Just listen to how cute it sounds!).
Maresa (who you've also seen in the shop, as well as arm wrestling with me on Facebook!) has been wanting to make a filled chocolate bar with hazelnut spread for a while, and the discovery of haselnüsse was just what we needed—along with a jar of vegan hazelnut spread Jacob kindly brought back as a souvenir—to get us whipping up test batches of haselnüsse-filled bars.
This delicious treat is the result, and I hope you like it as much as we do—it's packed with the rich, luxurious flavor of real organic hazelnuts, pure dark chocolate, and just a touch of sweetness.
