Here
are some bits of information you might find helpful:

- Included with each delivery is a menu sheet that lists how to heat the meals, ingredients, and tidbits we're excited about. The menu sheet does not list microwave cooking instructions, because although we know it is sometimes necessary to use a microwave, we aren't crazy about the idea of gamma rays exciting our organic molecules. If you do need to use a microwave, remember to add water if the dish looks dry, and to stir to ensure that it heats evenly. (Actually, those are good tips to remember when heating on the stovetop, too.)

- The menu for next week lists all the meals available -- soup, dessert, Kira's Mix and salad dressing are à la carte items that can be ordered in addition to the regular meal plans (you can also set up a standing order for these items).
- If you lose your copy of the menu sheet, just e-mail us and we will fax or e-mail you it again.
- The Friday after your first delivery, we will contact you to see how you liked everything and to see if you want to set up a standing order, so you don’t have to call every week to place your order. A standing order is not necessary, but if you do have one please make sure you call by Saturday if you ever want to cancel your order for the week.
- If you freeze anything, please do so in your own container.
- A note on substitutions: We are unable to do substitutions because of the quantity of food that we cook, as well as the fact that we consider ourselves artisans and each ingredient in a dish is there because it needs to be there. A beet salad without beets, or a tempeh dish with tofu instead of tempeh loses that je ne sais quoi, that joie de vivre, that esprit de corps - you get the idea. Instead of substitutions, you can either order double of another item on the menu or sautéed greens with or without garlic.
- We donate at least 2% of our profits to progressive causes.
- We also make lovely vegan chocolate truffles. Please notify us if you’d like to be put on our e-mail list so that we can contact you when we make a batch.
- Our ingredients are 70-80% organic, and all of our soy products, beans, grains, flours, and vinegars are always organic. We never knowingly use GM ingredients (ick!) and about 90% of our produce comes directly from farmers when in season. We never use canned or frozen vegetables (except for organic canned tomatoes and frozen peas once in a while). We don't use extremely processed “fake meats” like TSP and TVP, as they have almost no nutrition or taste. All tempeh and miso is made in-house, and all meals are made from scratch. We spend a huge amount of time finding quality ingredients and companies we believe in because we believe food is health insurance, food is political, and food is nothing if not utterly delicious. We are passionate about using food as a means to bring about positive change in our palates, our bodies, our neighborhoods, our country, and our world. Thank you for joining us in this pursuit.
